Box Office Staff

Capital Fringe is looking for Box Office Staff for the 13th Annual Capital Fringe Festival, July 7 to 29, 2018. Box Office Staff must be energetic, engaging and proactive with excellent communication skills and an outgoing personality. We are looking for people who are excited to be a part of this city-wide event and are interested in meeting and working with hundreds of artists and audiences from all walks of life.

Responsibilities:

  • All Box Office operations for the Capital Fringe Festival, including: sales of single tickets and passes, both in advance and on the door; daily deposits and reports; stocking merchandise; and customer service;

  • Set-up and break-down (including computers, printers, supplies, etc.) of the Fringe Festival box offices, before and after the Festival;

  • Work with Capital Fringe staff and volunteers to deliver an excellent experience to artists and audiences;

  • Be the face of Capital Fringe to the public and Fringe Festival artists.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in box office and front-of-house operations

  • Comfortable with, or willing to learn, technological tools such as iPads, ticket printers, and credit card swipers that are essential to the Capital Fringe Festival’s box office operations

  • Flexible working in different locations throughout the course of the Fringe Festival

  • Excellent multi-tasking and customer service skills

  • Grace and a sense of humor under pressure.

Time Commitment:

The Capital Fringe Festival runs July 7 to 29, 2018. Box Office Staff start on or around July 1st and work anywhere from 20-40 hours per week. Some work available in June for special Fringe Festival events. Festival Box Office hours range from 10am to 11:45pm.

Compensation:

This is a seasonal contract position. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Lighting Coordinator

The Lighting Coordinator assists the Festival Producer on all aspects of lighting operation and technical elements, as they relate to electrics of the Capital Fringe Festival. The position includes supervision of lighting personnel, installation, focus, programming and maintenance of lighting plots and the lighting equipment. This position reports to the Festival Producer.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with the Audio & Projections Coordinator to fulfill all technical needs for the Capital Fringe Festival
  • Prep and maintain all Festival lighting equipment and inventory
  • Update light plots as needed based on inventory
  • Create instrument and channel hookups, and other related Vectorworks and Lightwright documentation as needed, in consultation with Venue Designer
  • Assist Festival Producer in ordering all needed supplies, based on venue designs and inventory needs
  • Consult with Fringe Staff on hiring of over-hire staff needs
  • Attend staff meetings and production meetings, as needed
  • Serve as the Master Electrician for all events and venues
  • Supervise of electrics staff and over-hire in the preparation, load-in, and maintenance of festival venues
  • Assist as needed during techs
  • Read venue reports and festival schedules. Follow-up on applicable details/notes and communicate information to supervisors and staff as appropriate
  • Supervise Load out of all lighting equipment
  • Update inventory and storage information of all Fringe owned equipment and supplies

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of theatrical rigging systems and common safety practices
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on feet for long time periods
  • Must be able to comfortably negotiate stairs, ladders, lifts, and catwalks up to 45 feet above ground, as well as working within confined spaces
  • Working knowledge of Vectorworks and Lightwright
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance of moving light equipment and conventional instrument repair
  • Ability to lead load-in, focus, work and strike calls as directed by the Festival Producer

The Fringe Festival runs July 7 to 29, 2018. The Lighting Coordinator begins part-time in May and full-time is required during load in (late June to early July) and load out (late July to early August).

Audio & Projections Coordinator

The Audio & Projections Coordinator assists the Festival Producer on all aspects of audio & Projections operation and technical elements, as they relate to electrics of the Capital Fringe Festival. The position includes supervision of personnel, installation, programming and maintenance of equipment. This position reports to the Festival Producer.

Responsibilities:

  • Works in conjunction with the Lighting Coordinator to fulfill all technical needs for the Capital Fringe Festival
  • Prep and maintain all Festival Audio and Projections equipment and inventory
  • Create instrument/equipment documentation as needed, in consultation with Venue Designer
  • Assist Festival Producer in budgeting and ordering of all supplies needed, based on venue designs and inventory
  • Consult with Fringe Staff on hiring of over-hire staff needs
  • Attend staff meetings and production meetings, as necessary
  • Work with Festival Producer to organize needs for installation
  • Supervise Load-in of all Audio and Projection equipment, with over-hire crew. Install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for theatre and live music
  • Assist as needed during techs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve live event issues on the spot including: equipment failure, audio and video issues, last minute revisions to content (i.e. PowerPoint),
  • Read venue reports. Follow-up on applicable details/notes and communicate information to supervisors and staff as appropriate
  • Supervise Load out of all Audio & Projections equipment
  • Update inventory and storage of all Fringe owned equipment and supplies

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in the audio-visual, sound or video is necessary. The nature of prior experience will be a factor in the length of on-site time required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on feet for long time periods
