Capital Fringe is looking looking for energetic, engaging and proactive people with positive attitudes that want to support art and artists to work with us on the 12th Annual Capital Fringe Festival, July 6 to 23 and the extension week 25 to 31.

FRINGE FESTIVAL PRODUCTION TEAM

BUILD LOAD IN/OUT CREW

Crew with experience in theatrical electrics, audio systems, carpentry, painting or other production skills are needed to prepare and install the Fringe Festival’s indoor theatrical venues and the outdoor Baldacchino Tent site.

Capital Fringe is looking for build and load-in crew for the 12th Annual Capital Fringe Festival, July 6 to 31, 2017. Crew with experience in theatrical electrics, audio systems, carpentry, painting or other production skills are needed to prepare and install the Fringe Festival’s indoor theatrical venues and the outdoor Baldacchino Tent site.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting floorplans / Draftings
  • Building seating platforms, decks and other projects as needed
  • Hanging, circuiting and focusing theatrical lighting equipment as needed
  • Setting up audio equipment as needed
  • Load in and load out of all festival venues Any other reasonable tasks required in the preparation, construction, and installation of Capital Fringe venues.

Qualifications

  • Carpentry skills
  • Experience with Theatrical lighting and sound equipment;
  • Be physically fit and not afraid of getting dirty and sweating
  • Knowledge of construction, shop safety, and project management
  • Grace and a sense of humor under pressure

Time Commitment

Crew members will be scheduled according to availability. In addition to prep work in the Fringe scene shop, Capital Fringe seeks crew during the following periods: June 20 to June 26 – Baldacchino Tent build. June 30 to July 5 Festival indoor venues load-in. July 31 to August 6 - Festival indoor and outdoor venues strike.

Compensation

$15 to $17 per hour commensurate with experience.

BOX OFFICE AND FRONT OF HOUSE TEAM

BOX OFFICE ASSOCIATES

Fringe Festival Box Office Associate must be energetic, engaging and proactive with excellent communication skills and an outgoing personality. This year’s Festival Extension Week runs from July 26 to 30, and we will be looking for select staff to cover these additional dates as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Sale of single tickets, passes and buttons, both in advance and at the door; daily deposits and reports; stocking merchandise; and customer service.
  • Work with Box Office Management Staff and volunteers to deliver an excellent experience to artists and audiences.
  • Be the face of Capital Fringe to the public and Fringe Festival artists.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in box office and front-of-house operations.
  • Comfortable with, or willing to learn, technological tools such as iPADs, scheduling software, ticket printers, and credit card swipers that are essential to the Capital Fringe Festival’s box office operations.
  • Flexible working in different locations throughout the course of the Fringe Festival.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and customer service skills; Knowledge of ASL a plus.
  • Grace and a sense of humor under pressure.

Time Commitment:
The Capital Fringe Festival runs July 6 to 23, 2017, with an extension week running in limited venues July 26 to 30. Box Office Staff start on or around July 1st and work anywhere from 20-40 hours/week. Festival Box Office hours range from 10am to 11:45pm.

Compensation:
This is a seasonal contract position. Salary is commensurate with experience.

VENUE MANAGERS

Fringe Festival Venue Managers act as the primary point of contact of Capital Fringe to the Fringe Run Venue contacts, artists, volunteers and patrons of their particular venue. The Venue Manager will be in place to oversee and assist their assigned artists and work with the venue and Fringe production staff. This position reports to the Program Manager.

We need those applying to have a positive attitude, ability to problem solve, excellent communication skills, and stay cool and happy under pressure. The Venue Manager primarily serves as house manager, but should have a basic understanding of technical equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot in the event of equipment failure. Venue Managers ensure a smooth, and pleasant, experience for both Fringe artists and audiences alike.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with assigned venue contact person during the Festival to ensure proper use of the space.
  • Oversee fast-paced, repertory performance schedule for multiple productions.
  • Assist and supervise Fringe artists during performances and technical rehearsals.
  • Work with Box Office Staff to ensure good communication with patrons, and to get shows started on time.
  • Handle technical problems or needs of artists with the assistance of production staff.
  • Assist with load-in and load-out of all venues.

Qualifications

  • An appreciation and passion for the arts and artists is an asset.
  • Knowledge of a theatre environment, specifically the Fringe Festival is an asset.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role; event front of house or box office a plus.
  • Ability to manage large crowds on a tight schedule.
  • Creative minded with the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances in a bustling festival environment.
  • Possess excellent customer service, problem solving and troubleshooting skills - positive attitude.
  • Working weekends and evenings will be required.
  • Some physical work required.

Time Commitment

July 1 – August 1, 2017.

Compensation

This is a seasonal contract position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
