Julianne Brienza
Executive Director /Founding Member

Julianne is a multi-faceted leader whose artistic sensibility, philosophical perspective, humor, tenacity, and independence, along with her passion for learning and education comprise her leadership style. 

Julianne moved to Washington DC in December 2003 to manage the Cultural Development Corporation's Flashpoint project. She programmed Flashpoint venues, managed their arts incubator program, recruited participants and managed the facility. While at Flashpoint, Julianne started the Mead Theatre Lab Program- an intensive mentorship program for the performing arts.

Julianne came to DC from Philadelphia where she created and ran the Greenfield Elementary School artist-in-residency program for Mum Puppettheatre. She also served as Managing Director of 1812 Productions, a non-profit theatre company that focuses on comedy.  Also, she worked on the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival & Philly Fringe for three years in various capacities from venue manager, box office, to performing in Festival productions. Previously, she was a Professional Apprentice with the Arden Theatre Company.

Born and raised in Dillon, Montana, Julianne is a graduate Viterbo University, Bachelor of Fine Arts-Theatre, Minors, Philosophy and Visual Arts, Magna Cum Laude and The Sandglass Theatre Puppet Residency at Marlboro College.

 

Scot McKenzie
Producing Artistic Director/Founding Member

Scot is a creative artist designing performance spaces and producing works of art to communicate the philosophy of Fringe to DC and beyond.

Scot has lived in the District off and on for about eight years. He has worked as a Production Manager, Technical Director, Actor, Director, Film Director, Set Designer, Lighting Designer, Master Carpenter and Stage Hand for companies ranging from Studio Theatre, Folger Theatre, Rorschach Theatre, Washington Shakespeare Company, Arena Stage, Round House Theatre, Catalyst Theatre and Solas Nua.

Scot is a graduate of Davis and Elkins College, Bachelor of Fine Arts-Theatre, Minor, Spanish. Scot has studied movement under Jorge Brito at the Teatro Angela Peralta, Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, and is a Member of the DC based Whole Actor Research Project.

Dan Brick

Associate Producer

Innovative, creative and resourceful, and with a long background in
theatre and production, Dan brings diverse talents and experience to
his role as Associate Producer for Fringe.


In 2006 Dan demonstrated his belief in the infinite creative possibilities that Fringe offers by producing a play in the Georgetown Swimming Pool in the first Capital Fringe Festival. In 2007, before the second festival, Dan joined the staff of the Fringe as Production Manager and has been serving as Associate Producer since early 2009.

A veteran of the Washington arts scene, Dan joined the staff of the Source Theatre a decade ago, produced his first play in DC in 2001 (as Producing Artistic Director of Purchased Experience Theatre Company) and has been working on productions both large and small ever since, including the 4th of July concerts on the National Mall and the Kennedy Center Honors (as Film Coordinator).

Dan is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, the Producing
Director and co-founder of the Irish arts organization, Solas Nua, and a recipient of the Theatre Lobby's Marry Goldwater Trust Fund Award.

Caitlin Wood

Development Consultant

Caitlin is a seasoned fundraising and administrative professional who helps Capital Fringe clearly articulate its mission and leverage its core strength and position in the community. Caitlin brings passion, energy and dedication to her work while providing practical advice, effective materials and concrete strategies to maximize Capital Fringe's fundraising potential and sustainability.

Caitlin holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a James Michener Fellow, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Chicago. Caitlin is currently based in Ithaca, New York and works with clients in Ithaca, New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Anu Yadav

Training Factory Teaching Artist

Anu is an award-winning writer, performer and theater-based educator in Washington, DC. She is an avid fan, student and maker of art connected to organizing, social justice and community engagement.  

Anu has performed with the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Back on the Block Theatre Company at African Continuum Theatre Company, Active Cultures, Theatre Alliance and Imagination Stage. 

A graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Yadav was a 2000-01 Thomas J. Watson Fellow, during which she studied theatre towards social change in Brazil, India and South Africa. She is a recipient of Artist Fellowships and Young Artist Grants from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. She was the 2005 winner of the Washington, D.C. Mayor's Arts Award for Outstanding Emerging Artist. She received a 2007 National Performance Network residency with Carpetbag Theater Company in Knoxville, TN.  She was awarded a 2008 Creative Communities Initiative grant for Classlines, a collaborative multimedia performance exploring issues of class through personal storytelling. classlines.net

Monica Jilling

Admin Assistant

Monica is a dedicated and passionate arts manager. Currently finishing an M.A. in Arts Management at American University, Monica has a diverse work experience and has enjoyed working in administration at Arena Stage, Americans for the Arts, Washington Performing Arts Society, and three years as Capital Fringe Festival box office manager. As a classically trained pianist with a B.A. in Music from the University of Colorado, she is enthusiastic and driven to support and promote the performing arts. A certified Suzuki teacher, Monica also continues to teach piano lessons at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington.
